At Stripe, I led and collaborated on a variety of high priority initiatives: including an overall dashboard vision with c-suite stakeholders, Payment Links (the fastest growing Stripe product ever), Checkout, payment methods, and more. I developed a track record of repeatedly delivering high impact designs that were loved by users, moved key business metrics, and across multiple vertical teams in the org.
May 2021
I helped launch Payment Links, the fastest growing product in Stripe history.
While Stripe Checkout is famous for its notoriously easy developer integration that only requires 7 lines of code, there were a growing number of non-technical users who needed a way to collect payments without any code — or even a website.
To lower the barrier for acccepting payments, we built Payment Links—a way to collect payments via a link generated from the dashboard (no code necessary).
Solution
Impact
• We shipped the fastest growing product in Stripe history • A widely loved product by our customers • The fastest product to cross $10M in payment volume per day
Many of Stripe's payment solutions (Checkout, Elements, Payment Links, Invoicing, and more) were being developed independently by separate teams in the org. Users didn't know how these products worked together, and internally it was unclear where the future of each product was headed.
Seeing an opportunity to unify the visions across separate teams, I proactively crafted a two year vision informed by product, research, design, and engineering leaders. This vision demonstrated how Stripe products should evolve into a cohesive, holistic suite of tools with clear, strong value propositions for users.
Solution
Impact
• I presented this vision to our c-suite, which drove alignment and won resourcing to build this vision over the next year • The vision shipped in phases—including much-loved features like the pricing page, upsells and cross-sells, shopping cart, and more • We won merchants (and Stripe) millions of dollars in incremental revenue
January 2022
We increased adoption of local payment methods by 23%
While credit cards are the most popular payment methods for U.S.-based customers, this is not the case internationally. Many countries have payment methods that are popular locally, and our data showed that merchants could significantly increase conversion by accepting those payment methods.
Additionally, many non-card payment methods have significantly lower fees than credit cards, so offering these payment methods increases margins for both Stripe and our merchants.
We introduced a simple, no code way for users to turn on payment methods in the dashboard, as well as see which payment methods Stripe recommends for their business.
• We increased payment method adoption by 23% • My work was featured in the 2022 company board deck as a key strategic win
Disputes are when a customer challenges a payment with their bank. This initiates an evidence submission process that is very tedious and stressful for merchants, and highly favors customers.
Disputes are one of the top reasons merchants contact Stripe, especially from merchants handling a dispute for the first time.
I designed a series of improvements to our dispute submission flow, including an onboarding experience that introduces disputes, shows more context about the dispute to merchants, and recommends evidence that will maximize merchants' chances of winning their specific disputes.
Solution
Impact
• Dispute submission increased by 10% • Dispute-related customer support tickets reduced by 30%
January 2023
We redesigned the entire dashboard to set up the business for growth over the next 3 years
Stripe was best known for payments processing, but many users are unaware that Stripe offers a holistic suite of financial infrastructure: billing, loans, payouts, balances, and more.
Additionally, each of these products were owned by different teams shipping one-off solutions that made discovering and adopting different Stripe products extremely difficult.
We partnered with c-suite and key product teams owning to ship a systemic redesign of our dashboard experience. This included a new navigation system, onboarding experience, and unified templates designed to make product discovery and adoption as simple as possible.
